We’re so excited to share that we successfully p We’re so excited to share that we successfully premiered YIIYA: Rethinking Product Design, a documentary made possible by our colleagues over at Delft University and the SASA College of Industrial Design, Busiika.

Combined with fun games for the guests, and powerful words from our key speakers, the event showcased the world of Product Design in the Ugandan context highlighting the role of the country’s artisans to the practice. As the pillars of product design in Uganda, they were the foundation and inspiration for the filming.

A huge thank you to @emilewaterkeyn and @merlijnn__ , the brilliant Product Design students that made this all happen!

This #womensmonth DwB will be putting a spotlight This #womensmonth DwB will be putting a spotlight on some really amazing women we’ve encountered through our work…

🟣
77 yr old Opoka is a lady full of passion and vigour who is very well known by all in Jinja’s Kikaramoja neighbourhood. On any given day, she single handedly manages her household of 10 very active grandchildren left to her care by their parents. Her strength and resilience is admirable, as she spends her day making eco-friendly briquettes and stoves for income. She also takes it upon herself to ensure proper waste management in her neighbourhood for the safety of the many children playing around often unattended.

We celebrate Mrs. Opoka this women's day as a powerful source of inspiration for the family and society. She has been instrumental to us during the Child Injury Prevention Project, and a reminder to us that the most impactful solutions reside in the community and are driven by the existence of people just like Opoka.✨

The SASA College of Industrial design is nothing b The SASA College of Industrial design is nothing but a milestone for Uganda, in line with the country’s NDPIII strategy to increase production of locally manufactured exports.

Licensed by the National Council of Higher Education, SASA design academy is set to disrupt Uganda’s education system by equipping the next workforce generation with practical skills essential for industrial design.
The facility is equipped with a design studio, prototyping workshop, and accommodation for its students.
We’re proud of this accomplishment, and continue to collaborate with the institution in a bid to build design capacity in the country.

Cheers!
