Since 2005, Design without Borders and Makerere University have collaborated via the FK exchange program. The exchange program has made several development collaborations possible in Uganda such as the Unicef Information Kiosk and the UN WFP financial literacy project in Karamoja.
Makerere University is Uganda’s largest university, first established as a technical school in 1922, and becoming an independent national university in 1979. Today, Makerere University has 22 colleges, institutes and schools offering programmes to about 30,000 undergraduates and 3,000 postgraduates.
The Design without Borders’ partnership with Makerere is organised through the College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology (CEDAT) and the Margaret Trowell School of Industrial and Fine Arts (MTSIFA).
